Handbook Policy: Policies and Procedures Whether the disease or other emergencies are expected to occur during child care hours. Several attempts will be made to have an alternative care provider for your child so that I can stay open for child care. If alternative care is unavailable, you will receive a telephone call to pick up your child. If possible, medical and personal appointments will be arranged after child care hours.  If I have to use child care hours to secure appointments, every effort will be made to have an alternate caregiver. If an alternate is not available, I will have to close my childcare. For your convenience, I will distribute my scheduled Childcare closings for vacations and holidays within the first quarter of each year and every attempt will be made to minimize any changes in this schedule.   Paid holiday closings: New Year’s Day, Labor Day, MLK Day, Day before Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve close at 12 noon, Christmas Day and the Day after. When the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the acknowledged Federal/State holiday prevails, i.e. Christmas is on Sunday and the acknowledged Federal holiday is December 26th. Schedule calendar will be provided. School Calendar will be provided.  Vacation closing: 10 paid vacation days per year; all other vacation days are not paid, if any occur.  I ask you to respect the fact that when my daycare is closed for the holidays, I take that time to rest.  Being with my family or just playing catch-up. I take my work very seriously and believe it is a legitimate long-term career. To achieve this, I need this time off to maintain the energy level, giving your child the quality care he/she deserves. I reserve the right to shut down for any reason that prevents me from functioning safely. loss of electrical power, water, heat or, in extreme circumstances, loss of air conditioning, medical epidemics. Child care expenses are paid in respect of each of these events.
